War of Attrition

IN SPITE OF WRONG OR RIGHT… WE ONLY ANSWER TO THE SYTHE

Consisting of the band’s most varied and visceral material to date - WAR OF ATTRITION is an EP that explores themes of struggle, perseverance, and growth through hardship. Vocal features from Nick Erickson of cohen_noise on “Guillotine,” and Mason Bradley of Grow Blind on “Dead to Rights” cement their respective songs as stand out tracks on the EP. Not to be overlooked, guitarist/vocalist and newest member of Forthright - Cade Crider shines vocally on the choruses of “The Pain of Healing” and gives listeners a sneak peak into the future dynamic of the band’s sound.

War of Attrition (Single)

“One must imagine Sisyphus happy.” -Albert Camus

This song is a lament on the mundanity of existence. A rallying cry to stand in the face of an unyielding reality, and persevere in spite of it. Because when all is said and done, we only answer to the scythe.

Based on Plato's allegory of the same name, this song follows the journey of an individual seeking enlightenment in a subterranean world. They try to reason with those around them to see the light of the sun beyond the mouth of The Cave, but are met with ridicule from those satisfied with the simple shadows cast upon the wall. In the end, the individual ascends to face the overworld and live alone in the light.
